The 15th Annual (2017) EOR Carbon Management Workshop – Midland, Texas

On-site desk opens at 7:30 am at the Education Room at the Horseshoe Facility (HF) in So. Midland.


Monday, Dec 4th, 2017

The CO2 week’s activities open with the 15th Annual EOR Carbon Management Workshop at 8:00 am on Tuesday, Dec 4th at the Midland Center in downtown Midland with registration beginning at 7:30. A continental breakfast is available.
Technical Session I on Tuesday Dec 4th, 2015 from 8:00 to 12:00 (at the MC) followed by the Keynote Luncheon Talk.

Technical Session II on Tuesday Dec 4th from 1:00pm to 5:30pm (at the MC)

The Monday Evening Welcoming Reception will be at the HF from 5:30pm to 7:30pm


Tuesday, Dec 5th, 2017

The new projects exploiting the residual oil zones in the San Andres formation are reaching new heights. A full-day Seminar will be devoted to bringing the audience up to date on both types of projects, the CO2 EOR and horizontal wells. Speakers are currently being selected for this first-of-a-kind seminar.

Evening Reception (5:30-7:30) sponsored by the Permian Basin Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers at Susies’ South Forty Confections two blocks south of downtown at 401 S Marienfeld St, Midland, TX 79701.

The CO2 Flooding Conference activity will share sponsorship of the Seminar on Tuesday and the Tuesday evening reception with the EOR Carbon Management Workshop


Wednesday, Dec 7th, 2017

The CO2 Flooding and ROZ Theme Sessions have been the most popular sessions in the past Conference week activities. The morning and afternoon sessions will feature business and reservoir case histories and a keynote speaker (TBD) at the luncheon.

Thursday, Dec 7th, 2017

A full-day field trip is being planned to an EOR project and CO2 Recycle Facility north of Midland (tentative location – the Wellman field in Terry County). The CO2 project is being selected to also allow time for a drive-by of the western Yoakum County area where many of the horizontal play wells are located. Time permitting; the bus will make short stops along side the Tall Cotton project and Seminole San Andres Unit. Bus captains will provide briefings on the sites.

The field trip has been a very popular event in the past so registration is limited to first 70 persons to sign up. Buses will leave at 8:15am Thursday, December 7th and box lunches will be provided on the bus. Buses will return to the Midland Center NLT 4:00pm.)

Airlines serving Midland are Continental (IAH, Houston’s Bush Intercontinental and from Denver’s Intn’l Airport) and Southwest Airlines (from Hobby in south Houston, from Dallas’ Love field, and from Phoenix and Las Vegas). American Eagle serves Midand from the Dallas Regional Airport (DFW). Continental flights are either the Brazilian Embraer jets or United turboprops, the Southwest flights are Boeing 737 jet service, and the Eagle flights can be either regional jets or turboprops.

Attendees should be reminded that there are many new Midland/Odessa hotels but all can be difficult to reserve due to the oil and gas activity in the region – several room blocks in addition to the Doubletree one (see conference website) have been established and early reservations are recommended. The largest room block has been set up at the Midland Doubletree (by Hilton) across the street from the Midland Center in Downtown Midland (http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/texas/doubletree-by-hilton-hotel-midland-plaza-MAFDTDT/index.html/).
